1 - Browsing on the www.mappy.com website ?

  • Select the map tab to search for an address,
  • the route planner tab to work out a route,
  • the weather tab to check the weather for your town, etc.

New content has been added to the mappy.com website: cultural, tourism and events information.

 

 


2 - How do I search for a map?

Classic search :
Enter the address in the single-field search form :
  • Exemple : 2 Baker Street,
  • or 2 Baker Street, London,
  • or London,
  • or NW1,

or click on "Detailed search" to open the multi-field form, then enter the house number and street name in the first field, the town or postcode in the second and the country in the third.

The result is displayed on the map below the form.

 

Define search :
If more than one location with the same name (or a similar name) is found, select the correct address from the selection displayed by Mappy in the pull-down list, or click on an address directly on the map.

SIf you wish to view a map for a specific address, enter the street name and house number. (If you do not enter the number, the map will focus on the middle of the street).
The map will be displayed with an appropriate scale depending on the level of detail of your address. It will focus on this address.

 

 

Browse in the map :
Use the thumb wheel to zoom in or out, or use your mouse to adjust the sliding zoom scale.

  1. Allows you to scroll over the maps on the left, right, top, bottom.
  2. This is the zoom function. + zooms out from the initial view, and - brings you closer,
  3. New: You can use the thumb wheel to browse in the maps and block this function. You can also move around inside the map,
  4. New: display a position map! The mini map that appears in the bottom right-hand corner of the map shows you the position of a district within a town, or a town within a region.

 

How can I print a map?

click on the "Print" link at the bottom of the map.

 

 

 

 

To view photos of a town or city ?

Mappy.com offers photo tours of 27 towns in France and Luxembourg, and 7 towns in Spain. To access them, create a map. The photo tour will then appear inside an information bubble.

 

 

How can I search for services and shops close to my map area?

To make life on the road easier for you, Mappy provides a selection of practical addresses and tourist information in the United Kingdom (hotels, car parks, service stations, chemists, etc.).
To access this information, create a map and then click on one of the icons on the left. In this example, service station .

 

Map mode : The service stations are displayed on your map,

Text mode : Select this mode to display a list of all service stations close to the address you searched for.

 

Below your map, Mappy offers a selection of useful addresses, including hotels, bars, clubs, shops, etc.

 


3 - How can I work out a route?

Click on the route planner tab, then enter your departure and destination addresses. To use the multi-field form, click on "detailed search".

 

 

The result appears below the form as driving directions.

To view a map of your route plan, click on map mode.

 

Note : the journey time calculated excludes breaks and assumes favourable weather conditions.

 

 

You can change your route directly in the map! Simply drag and drop the line mapping out the route: a new route will automatically be updated on the map and in the search panel.

 

 

Route options :

 

Various options for your route are available at the bottom of the form. You can specify :

  • Avoid tolls = to view the most economic routes, avoiding tolls where possible,
  • Pedestrian.

The number of miles, journey time, fuel and toll costs are displayed at the top of the driving directions on the basis of the criteria you entered in the "Options and expenses" sub-section.

 

 

 

Stopover:

 

If you wish to pass through any specific locations on the way to your destination, click on the "Add a stopover" link below the "Arrival" field on the form. Select the location you wish to pass through on your journey.

 

 

 

To calculate your return route:

 

Click on at the top right of the form, or on "Return route" at the top of the driving directions.

Note  : the journey time calculated excludes breaks and assumes favourable weather conditions.

 

 

 

Calculate a pedestrian route :

 

Enter your departure and destination points, then tick the "pedestrian" button at the bottom of the route planner form.

The maximum limit for a pedestrian route is 20 km.

 

 

How can I work out my travel expenses?

 

Enter your departure and destination addresses in the form and then click on “calculate expenses” in the menu on the left in the route planner section. Specify the type of vehicle you are using: car, motorbike, minibus, truck. Then use the second pull-down list to provide more details about your vehicle. Finally, enter your expense allowance per km/mile, as well as the type and cost of your fuel (1) in the appropriate currency.

A summary table appears at the top of the driving directions, showing you the number of miles travelled, the journey time, fuel and toll costs, as well as your mileage allowances.
 

(1) Fuel cost:
We display an average fuel price (per litre) for your selected fuel type (petrol or diesel). The price per litre is notified by the Direction des Hydrocarbures du Ministère de l'Industrie (average consumer prices in France, updated each year). You can also enter the exact price (per litre) charged by your usual service station.

 

 

4 - How can I check the weather for a town ?

Click on the weathertab, and then enter the required address or town. The weather map appears below the input form.

Clicking on the icon (sun, rain, cloud), displays the current weather in your selected location. To check the 3-day or 10-day forecast, click on the appropriate link.

 


5 - How can I register for the My Mappy personal area?

To register free of charge for the My Mappy service, click on the My Mappy link on the home page .

Complete all the required fields on the "Register" page and make sure that you enter a valid email address.

  1. an email confirmation will be sent to the address you entered during the registration process. To confirm your registration, open this email and click on the confirmation link you will find there,
  2. you can then log in directly to your personal area.

 

How do I use My Mappy ?

My Mappy is your personal area on www.mappy.com.You simply need to register, it’s free!

This personal area allows you to :

  • save your favourite maps and route plans,
  • save landmarks (for example: hotels, favourite places, etc.),
  • access weather forecasts for your favourite destinations.

You can also call up saved addresses and route plans by clicking on My Mappy in the form.
