- How do I search for a map ?

Standard search :

Enter the required address in the single-field search form :

  • Example: 2 Baker Street,
  • or 2 Baker Street, London,
  • or London,

Or click on "Detailed search" to open the multi-field search form, then enter the house number and street name in the first field, the town or postcode in the second and the country in the third.

The result is displayed on the map below the form.

Narrowing the search :

If more than one location with the same name (or a similar name) is found, select the correct address from the selection displayed by Mappy in the pull-down list, or click on an address directly on the map.

If you wish to view a map for a specific address, enter the street name and house number (if you do not specify the number, the map will be centred on the middle of the street). The scale of your map will be adjusted according to the level of detail given for your address. The map will be centred on this address.

Browsing the map :

Use the thumb wheel to zoom in or out, or use your mouse to adjust the sliding zoom scale.

  1. Allows you to move the map left, right, up and down.
  2. New: you can click on this icon to zoom in and out with the thumb wheel or click again to disable this feature. You can also move around within the map.
  3. This is the zoom function. Click on + to zoom in, and click on - to zoom out.
  4. New : display a locator map ! The mini locator map displayed in the bottom-right corner of the map shows you the position of a district within a town, or a town within a region.

- How do I print a map ?

Click on the "Print" link at the bottom of the map.

- How can I see photos of a town or city ?

Mappy.com offers street views for 27 towns and cities in France and Luxembourg, and for seven towns and cities in Spain. To see the photos, create a map. The street views will then be displayed inside a tooltip.

- How do I search for services and shops close to my map area ?

To make life on the road easier, Mappy provides a selection of practical addresses and tourist information in the United Kingdom (hotels, car parks, petrol stations, chemists, etc.).

To display this information, create a map and then click on the required icon on the left, such as a petrol station.

Map mode: the petrol stations are displayed on your map.

Text mode : select this mode to display a list of all petrol stations close to your chosen address.

Beneath your map, Mappy offers a selection of useful addresses, including hotels, bars, clubs and shops.

  1. Route

- How do I work out a route ?

Click on the Itinerary tab and then enter the departure and arrival addresses. To use the multi-field form, click on "Detailed search".

The result is displayed below the form as a roadbook containing a series of driving directions.

To view a map of your route plan, click on the "Map mode" tab.

Note: the calculated journey time does not include rest breaks and assumes good weather conditions.

You can change your route directly on the map ! On the map, simply drag and drop the line representing the route : the new route will automatically be updated on the map and in the left pane.

- Route options :

Various options for your route are available at the bottom of the form.

You can specify the required type of route by selecting either of the following options :

  • Avoid tolls = calculates a cost-effective route by avoiding tolls and using A-roads where possible,
  • Pedestrian.

The number of miles, journey time, fuel and toll costs are displayed at the top of the roadbook based on the criteria entered in the "More options" and "Calculate costs" sub-sections.

- Steps :

If you wish to pass through any specific locations on the way to your destination, click on the "Add a step" link below the "Arrival" field on the form. Select the location that you wish to pass through on your journey.

- How do I calculate my return route ?

Click on to the right of the form or on "Return route" at the top of the roadbook.

Note: the calculated journey time does not include rest breaks and assumes good weather conditions.

- How do I calculate a pedestrian route ?

Enter the departure and arrival points and then check the "Pedestrian" button at the bottom of the route planner form.

The maximum limit for a pedestrian route is 20 km.

- How do I work out my travel costs ?

Enter the departure and arrival addresses in the form and then click on "Calculate costs" in the menu on the left of the route planner section. Specify the type of vehicle: Car, Motorbike, Van or Truck. Then use the second pull-down list to provide more details about your vehicle. Finally, enter your expense allowance per km/mile, as well as the type and cost of your fuel (1) in the appropriate currency.

A summary table is displayed at the top of the roadbook, showing the number of miles travelled, the journey time, the fuel and toll costs, as well as your mileage allowances.

(1) Fuel cost :
We display an average fuel price (per litre) for your selected fuel type (petrol or diesel). The price per litre is notified by the Hydrocarbons Directorate of France's Department of Trade and Industry (average consumer prices in France, updated each year). You can also enter the exact price (per litre) charged by your usual petrol station.

  1. How do I check the weather in a given location ?

Click on the Weather tab and then enter the required address or city / town. The weather map is displayed beneath the data entry form.

Clicking on the icon (sun, rain, cloud) displays the current weather in your selected location. For a 3-day or 10-day forecast, click on the appropriate link.

  1. My Mappy

- How do I register for the My Mappy personal area ?

To register free of charge for the My Mappy service, click on the My Mappy link on the homepage.

Complete all the required fields on the "Register" page and make sure that you enter a valid email address.

  1. An activation email will be sent to the email address that you entered on the registration form. To activate your account, open the email and click on the activation link inside.
  2. You can then log in directly to your personal area.

- How do I use My Mappy ?

My Mappy is your own personal area on www.mappy.com. Simply complete the free registration process !

Thanks to your personal area, you can :

  • Save your favourite maps and route plans.
  • Save your points of interest (e.g. hotels and favourite places).
  • Check the weather forecasts for your favourite destinations.

You can also call up saved addresses and route plans by clicking on My Mappy in the form.
